Facebook, Twitter, a blog like this ... I don't pay much attention to them or even use them all that much. And along comes Jaron Lanier to explain why. Before we start connecting to each other, we have to be individuals first. You need to have done something worth sharing, rather than just networking for the sake of hearing yourself talk.
When we focus exclusively on the act of sharing, rather than first on the act of accomplishing, we fall short of our potential.
